Alex Taylor Obituary, Death – This week, we learned of the passing of our friend and fellow member of the Almond & Earn branch, Alex Taylor of Methven. It was with very deep and genuine regret that we learned of his passing. For a good number of years, Alex has been an integral part of the branch.

He has never served as an official officer of the branch, but he has always toiled away in the background in a methodical and unobtrusive manner, devoting many hours of his own time to the development and upkeep of our branch website. In addition to establishing his own company, which offered website and network services to customers located all over the country, he engaged in this activity.

Those of us who have had the privilege of knowing him would say that he was the epitome of a gentleman, one who was never reluctant to assist a fellow human being in times of need. Alex was a very humble person who would never take much credit for his hard work, even when others in our branch were envious of us owing to the success that he helped us achieve.

He was a legendary leafletter, and his most recent contribution was to the campaign for the Summer of Activity. In addition to his work on the website, he also contributed to the campaign. He had his own personal favorite patch in Methven, which included the College Road estate, and he was always looking forward to getting out with a bag of leaflets and traveling around his preferred route before ending off with a cup of coffee in the local café. His favorite patch in Methven included the College Road estate.

Alex spent the majority of his working days either in the Perth Library or in Crieff. He commuted between the two locations by taking the No. 15 bus from Methven Main Street and engaging in conversation with the same people on both buses. He regularly took advantage of these encounters to talk about the benefits that independence would bring to Scotland, and he was ready to offer leaflets and information with anyone who showed an interest in the subject.

Alex will be remembered for many things in addition to his interest in politics, including his powerful sense of personal independence, his generosity, his dry but lethal sense of humor, his delight at the follies of life in general, and his wide smile. When he passes away, he leaves behind a hole in the world that will be difficult to fill.
